This app is a very simple tool for the calculation of the Johnston power index for weighted voting games. The input data are all integer numbers: the quota q and the weights for each voter w_1, w_2,...,w_n. The format should be like q;w_1,w_2,...,w_n. So the quota has to be separated by a semicolon while the weights are separated by commas.
The index gives you an idea of how much power the individual voters have. This cannot be seen from the weights of the voters directly.
This power index was originally defined in: Johnston, R. (1978). On the measurement of power: Some reactions to laver. Environment and Planning A, 10, 907–914.
